What are the advantages of CMMs?

Efficiency

Coordinate measuring machines can be programmed to measure different points of the same part multiple times, improving efficiency in workflows. CMMs also employ measuring probes that move automatically along predefined paths, reducing the likelihood of measurement errors and removing the need for manual manipulation of probes.

High precision

When it comes to quality control, CMMs measure complex parts down to the last micron, guaranteeing supreme accuracy.

Quality control

After every inspection, our CMMs generate quality control documentation. This gives our customers a traceable record of the quality of the parts we manufacture for them.

CAD integration

Our CMMs integrate with our CAD (computer-aided design) software, ensuring that every part has been manufactured according to the design specifications in its original CAD model. This also helps ensure the measurements taken by our CMMs are highly accurate.

What is a CMM?

CMM stands for coordinate measuring machine. CMMs measure the shape and geometry of physical parts to a highly precise degree of accuracy.

At M-CNC, we employ seven CMMs that run Aberlink software in our quality inspection processes. Aberlink make leading-edge CMMs, coupled with vision systems and 3D measurement software that deliver superior measurement accuracy.

What are CMMs used for?

CMMs are used to test the quality and precision of a manufactured part and ensure it matches as closely as possible the original design. Our CMMs employ laser shaft measuring equipment and shadowgraph measuring to thoroughly check the parts we manufacture are within quality assurance tolerances.
